UNU is a think-tank for the United Nations System and is dedicated to the generation and transfer of knowledge and the strengthening of individual and institutional capacities in furtherance of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations. It began operations in 1975 as an autonomous organ of the United Nations General Assembly.
On January 19, 2010, Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, spoke with Dr. Jean-Marc Coicaud, Director of UNU-ONY, about her recent appointment to the position, the work of UNESCO and the upcoming four years.
Naiyi ZHU recently published an article on China's Environmental Policies and Strategies in the first monthly publication of the Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l'Ecole Militaire (IRSEM - The Military School Institute of Strategic Research).
In the heart of Tokyo's Aoyama/Omotesando high-end fashion district, over 40 stallholders sell fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers, as well as rice and a variety of other foodstuffs. The Farmers Market is held outside the UNU Headquarters most Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
